Meg (11/18)

Meg now called Maggie is doing great. She is growing up and is a great addition to our family.

Murphy

Ragnar (formerly Murphy) and I are enjoying life together! He and I go on long walks every morning and evening during the work week and go exploring on the weekends.  So far Ragnar has explored Lake Onondoga Park in Syracuse, Selkirk Shores state park, Historic Thompson Park in Watertown and trails around Lake Placid. He even explored Lake Placid with a golden retriever friend. He absolutely loves car rides and can't wait to meet his cousin, a long haired dachshund, when he and I go down to Virginia for the holidays. He's certainly spoiled at home and loves everyone he meets. He's put on some healthy weight and gets to enjoy lots of treats. I appreciate you all checking in with Ragnar and I!

Mia

10/26/2015 follow up notes

Hi!! We're doing great!! Can hardly believe we celebrated our 5th week anniversary this past Saturday. Mia has brought so much love, joy, and laughter to our home! She is amazing!! She has settled in as if she's been here forever! The sofa is officially hers and she keeps all her squeaky toys there. Also we've fixed up a place for her so she can look out the front windows--she loves sitting there and keeping an eye on what's going on. She loves to cuddle--a major love bug!! We got her a harness for when we go walking-the collar/leash thing was choking her so much because she's always in a hurry to get to the next smell! With the harness, she's much happier and that makes us happy!!

On a practical note, she's been to her initial doctor's appointment and did great. Dr. Hoskins, at North Country Vet, recommended we have her teeth cleaned so she's having that procedure a week from tomorrow. Mia weighed 18.3 pounds and the Doc also said to cut back a bit on her food and make sure she gets plenty of exercise. She's very good with everyone she's met--cautious but friendly and very well-behaved. Haven't introduced her to any other dogs or cats yet but she loves chasing the chipmunks and squirrels on the property! She doesn't seem to mind the deer and wild turkeys but the chipmunks better watch out!! Oh, and she loves to sniff the various toads and frogs but doesn't bother them.

And this past weekend-a new adventure! We live in Parish and we think Mia experienced her first snowfall! She checked it out and decided she could live with it! lol! We'll be making a trip to Petsmart to get her a coat and look into maybe getting boots as well.

Thank you for the reminder--I'll check and make sure I changed the registration for her microchip!

Thank you all so much for the great work you do at Helping Hounds!! Bill and I tell everyone who might be thinking about getting a dog to visit your rescue center and meet all the wonderful dogs that are waiting for their families to bring them home!! forever grateful,

Murdoch (3/18)

Here is a picture of Murray (Murdoch) with his brother Buck and some of the adventures we went on. They are the best of friends and we like to go out and get lots of exercise. He is still a little scared and skiddish of new people but he is getting better. It will take time but with lots of love and trust I believe he will make a full recovery. Hope you enjoy the pic.
